Hey there, crafty friends! We hope your mid-week is full of joy. Today is Veteran’s Day and we here at TE salute all the brave men and women who have served and continue to serve our great nation.
Today, Blog Team Designer Lisa Henke has created a lovely winter card for us and we can’t wait to share it with you. We know many of you create patriotic cards to thank our armed services and Lisa’s card reminds us that any handmade card is a wonderful way to thank someone serving here and abroad.
To help you do that, and in honor of our veterans, we’re giving away a $25 Gift Certificate to the TE Store. Read on for details…
And now, here’s Lisa to tell us all about her project…
It’s full on holiday crafty mode down in my creative space. My
favorite product from TE release is the gorgeous die,
Eventful- Night Before Christmas. I couldn’t wait to make this wintry
I started with an ink blended background using Distress Ink. I made sure to keep it lighter in the center to give a
“glowing” effect to the sky. This is a technique that can be
intimidating to some, me included. Here are a couple of tips to keep in
- Use a light hand while working the sponge applicator.
- Start from your work surface (a craft mat works best) and then move onto your paper.
- Use circular motions and overlap your colors until you get the desired color blending.
- Let your panel dry; the colors will continue to smooth out and blend beautifully.
Once my panel was dry, I added some texture with the
Snowfall Embossing Folder. I set that aside and then continued to build
my scene. I used Oreo Cardstock to cut out the Eventful-Night Before
Christmas die. I used Dijon Cardstock to back the windows.
little dies included in the set are brilliant and make for easy-peasy
glowing windows. I added white heat embossed sentiment
from Peek a Boo Christmas.
The finishing touch on the card was the
silver glitter stars. I cut 5 of them quickly with the Little
Bits – Christmas Tree die. I framed it all up with a Sugar Cube Frame in
Frame Cutting Plate.
